She takes her royal responsibilities seriously

In 2004, Princess Sarah arrived in Bumpe, Sierra Leone. At the time, the country was recovering from an 11-year civil war. The situation was bleak. Schools and communities were ravaged and destroyed.

The gravity of the situation led her to establish non-profit foundation Sierra Leone Rising, which advocates for education, women’s empowerment and public health safety. It also promoted Mask on Africa, a campaign that encourages people to wear masks to curb Covid-19.

“My life completely changed. Being a princess is about responsibilities,” said the now-45-year-old on the Tamron Hall Show.

Recently, she shared a video showing the progress of a new well being built through the foundation. The project, she said, will help provide clean drinking water for communities who need it.

She’s a speaker

Aside from managing her foundation, Princess Sarah is also a public speaker who discusses education, community outreach, diversity, adoption – and her experiences as an African princess, of course. NBC News reported that she also addresses companies and organisations in order to to foster a more inclusive work environment.

She works in education

No wonder Princess Sarah is championing education in Sierra Leone. According to the bio on her website, she is the director of outreach at the Oakwood School in Los Angeles. Her job entails working with middle and high school students.

She is an actress

Princess Sarah is also a talented theatre actress, and her love of the stage earned her a scholarship to West Virginia University. She then pursued her master’s in fine arts at the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco, and joined the Los Angeles acting community.

She shared on Instagram that she has appeared on American Dreamz, The Secret Life of the American Teenager and Boston Legal, and wrote that she misses acting.

She published a memoir

Princess Sarah co-wrote and published A Princess Found in 2009, chronicling her life story and the discovery of her royal lineage. Her book caught the attention of Disney executives and will be adapted into a film. CNN reported that it’s still in the early phase of development.

The movie will be produced by Stephanie Allain, who became the first woman of colour to produce the Academy Awards ceremony last year, according to NBC News.
