Kate Middleton Channels Princess Diana in an Unexpectedly Bright Look

Publish date: 2024-03-29

After wearing deep emerald green on St. Patrick's Day, navy blue on Commonwealth Day and other dark hues throughout the winter, Kate Middleton switched up her royal wardrobe with a pleasantly surprising pastel. The Duchess of Cambridge paid a visit to the Royal Society of Medicine in a mint green ensemble by Jenny Packham, proving spring has definitely sprung in her closet.

The look consisted of a maternity shift dress covered by a matching coat tied with a dainty bow at the collar. Middleton ditched the clutch for today's appearance and just accessorized with a pair of nude pumps.

She wore the bright look for a symposium at the Royal Society of Medicine in London, where she discussed the importance of early intervention and providing mental health support to children at a young age.

The event, which she hosted in partnership with the Royal Foundation, gathered experts, professors, researchers and charities. Their focuses included perinatal, maternal, and infant mental health, parenting support and resources in schools, according to a statement from Kensington Palace.

The Duchess, who's expecting her baby child next month, was seen caressing her growing baby bump as she exited the event.

The outfit, like many of Middleton's royal looks, was reminiscent of Princess Diana's many mint green outfits. One famous iteration was the skirt suit she wore in 1996, also to a symposium, to discuss breast cancer at Northwestern University in Chicago. She added a pearl choker, a black quilted Chanel bag and Chanel slingback pumps to give the look her signature elegant flair.

She even wore a similar look the following year while visiting London's Great Ormond Street Hospital on Valentine's Day.

But she was already sporting the pastel hue years before. She wore this minty coat and hat in September 1990 during an appearance at Buckingham Palace, with a young Prince Harry at her side.
