No More Dreads! Justin Bieber Debuts New Buzzcut on Instagram

“Thank the Lord!!!!” one highly excited commenter wrote on Justin Bieber‘s IG late Friday night, with another fragile fan wailing “WHY?????😭😭😭😭” and thousands more debating the merits of the “Sorry” singer’s decision to … cut off his dreadlocks and debut a shiny new buzzcut.

JB posted a series of photos showing off his new #lewk, and—because nothing says “I shaved my head” better than overt displays of wealth—included one standing in front of private plan gazing pensively into the night. Biebs also appears to be just as adept as creating Drake memes as you, and posted another image of his shaved head with a mini Drizzy sitting atop his shoulder.

You’ll remember last month Bieber took the iHeartRadio Music Awards by storm, performing hit singles “Love Yourself” and “Company,” wearing an oversize Rangers jersey, and unveiling a surprise for everyone in the form of his baby blonde dreadlocks. Predictably, not everyone was as enthusiastic about the new look as his alarmingly steadfast army of Beliebers, who will defend any and all of his bad behavior to the death. Including, apparently, cultural appropriation.

Twitter gave Biebs a bit of a hard time, with one especially resonant comment pointing out how when actress Zendaya wore dreadlocks she got “told she looks smelly & homeless but Justin Bieber gets dreads and gets told he’s hot. Hmm.”
