Fairleigh Dickinson coach Tobin Anderson bolts for Iona job just TWO DAYS after team was eliminated
After leading 16-seed Fairleigh Dickinson to a historic NCAA Tournament run, coach Tobin Anderson has a new job.
Iona announced Tuesday that it had hired the former FDU man as the 15th head coach in the school's history.
Anderson replaces Rick Pitino, who left Iona for St. John's on Monday.
The contract is for five years, according to ESPN.
The hiring of Anderson comes after FDU became just the second 16-seed ever to beat a No. 1 seed, with his Knights beating Purdue 63-58 last week in an epic upset .

Beyond just March Madness, Anderson made marked improvements to FDU in his one season there.
After posting a 4-22 record the season prior to his arrival, FDU went 21-16 this year and earned the NEC's automatic bid.
2022-23 represented FDU's first winning season since 2018-19, and just their third above winning season since 2006-2007.
Iona has held longstanding interest in Anderson, as ESPN reported he was a finalist for the job in 2020 when Pitino got it.
